Equation de locus comme indice de distinction consonantique pharyngalisé vs non pharyngalisé en arabe
Mohamed Embarki, Christian Guilleminot, Mohamed Yeou.

Locus equations which are linear regression derived from the F2 onset and offset frequencies were used in this study in order to verify if they could be strong phonetic descriptors of the consonantal opposition pharyngealized vs non pharyngealized in Arabic. The purpose was also to check if slope values vary distinctively according to the speakers’ native origin. Eight males Arabic speakers from eight Arabic countries were recruited to produce 24 #CV# tokens, where C was non pharyngealized [], [], [] and [] or pharyngealized [] [], [], [] and [], each followed with one of the three vowels [], [] and [].
